Committed to promoting progress, particularly among music stars in Nigeria, Life Continental Beer, a stable from Nigerian Breweries Plc, held the second regional auditions for its ‘Hi-Life Fest’ as the search for the next king of highlife continues.
The event, held at the Joseph Yobo Mini Stadium, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, had a team of judges consisting of seasoned music producers and guest personalities that witnessed the various performances of the would-be highlife kings, while they also engaged the guest audience in deciding the best acts. Registrations and auditions were held at Veroz Rest and Bar, GRA Phase 2, culminating in the semi-finals.
Speaking at the event, Regional Trade Marketing Manager Port Harcourt, Nigerian Breweries Plc, John Adesola, reaffirmed the brand’s commitment to the progress and culture of the people of the Southeast.
“Highlife music is an integral part of the rich Igbo culture. This is evidenced in the success of legends like Chief Stephen Oliver De Coque, Celestine Ukwu, Osita Osadebe, Bright Chimezie and many others. This genre of music remains important to our consumers, and the Hi-Life Fest serves to remind them of our brand’s commitment to their lifestyle and progress,” he said.
The winner of the Port Harcourt auditions, Roselyn Akpan, expressed her excitement saying: “Highlife music has always been a part of me, and winning the regional competition is basically a dream come true. Life Continental Beer has created a platform for me to express my love for this genre of music and I am grateful for that.”
